Dear Virden Residence:
This letter is to inform you that the City of Virden has recently adopted a water meter ordinance for the purpose of addressing transmitters/lids damage. This Ordinance has been put in place to help with the transmitters/lids damage that can happen from mowers and other mechanical devices. The city encourages the residents to take care and not damage the meters and transmitters/lids as they are expensive to replace. If the transmitters/lids are found to be damaged by the owner, renter, or any other contractor, the current account holder for the water account will be held responsible. The fees for the transmitters/lids will be added to your water bill and expected to be paid as part of the monthly bill. If these charges are not paid in full in that month, your water will be disconnected until the sum is paid. To read the full ordinanace 2025-12 click on the icon below.
